And, the French. I suppose with Euro Champs and points chances done now... I think... these will be rolling out in bunches.
As good as the rest of the French riders are - Sylvain, Romain & Joris on the men's and Axelle for the women's - is incredibly unsurprising, especially after Joris and Sylvain podiumed at Worlds.

Re: The 2024 Paris Olympics Thread
The CC boys probably nailed that one saying, Joris, Romain, Sylvain, and Jeremy sitting out the Euro Champs kinda says they knew the team after Worlds. Probably true.
Although, Jeremy sitting Euros out and Pilard getting a win there may have cost Jeremy the alternate spot? But, who wants to be the alternate anyway?

Better to be the alternate than not going at all. Not like training injuries don't happen in BMX...

Re: The 2024 Paris Olympics Thread
Mauricio Molina Vergara deserves to be there, it is obviously really hard to be in the olympics.
Whoever the teams pick, on the men's side it will be extremely hard not to have a Euro sweep of the medals, anything can happen in a single final heat ...

What's the US waiting for... or, GB also? Is there really that much for them to debate or decide on here? Canada, for the ladies... like we all don't know Molly is the pick.

What do you mean? They don't want to pull Drew out of retirement? She was in the main 3 years ago...
Yea, everyone knows it's Molly. Has for a year+. Really, announcing it isn't going to change anything, she was setting up training to peak for the Olympics basically starting when she jumped from U-23 to Elite at the start of this Olympic qualifying cycle. (She turns 22 this year)
The next two highest scorers haven't raced elite at all yet - Teigen, who might be racing up in elite if she hadn't been hurt so many times, and the 3rd place scorer for olympic qualifying is Keira Murphy, who is 19 and has made semis 5 times at U23 world cup events. Anyone they'd be sending other than Molly hasn't raced Women's Elite SX yet - or at least hasn't done well enough to score Oly qualifying points.

Re: The 2024 Paris Olympics Thread
I guess one of the reasons for the delayed announcement by some of the teams could be final deliberations over the choice of alternate rider? That would cover both the USA and GB men's teams, for example. Also, would the alternates go to Paris with the O-show riders just in case there's a practice injury, etc? Or is there a cut-off point at which they're able/unable to step in and take the place??

Re: The 2024 Paris Olympics Thread
I've wondered the same about the alternates. My guess is they go? Simply based on, if someone got hurt during the practice days the alternate could still step in.
Does each country even name, have, send and alternate?

I said he did good getting on the podium at the Rockstar nat. Apparently du thinks that means I'm his number one fan ever and I don't like any other racers?? And, apparently he is hoping one of these times his worn out joke is funny???

Well, that's a bummer.
Shakes things up a little bit, as Niek was about a lock for the main... likely on the podium.

I just saw this come up in my notifications and came to see if it was already here. This sucks. Niek there and racing like he's been in the past few months makes it better.

Re: The 2024 Paris Olympics Thread
Blimey, that's a shock!! Such a shame.
What were we saying earlier about alternates. I'm sure Dave VDB would have preferred to have qualified directly but still, he must be smiling inside.
